Vegan ice cream: ingredients
For vegan sorbets, we simply use fruit, sugar and water.
To make vegan ice cream, replace traditional cow’s milk cream with vegetable creams , vegetable oils or milks.
For vegan frozen yogurts, it’s the same principle: milk yogurts of animal origin are replaced by yogurts made from soy or coconut milk for example, plain or flavored.
The advantage of making your own vegan ice cream is that you control their composition. You can add less sugar and do not need additives, fatty acids or glucose syrup used by manufacturers. They are better and more qualitative (and often even less expensive).
You can eat them with cinnamon rolls or chocolate cake.
Vegan ice cream: recipe
Here’s how to make homemade vegan ice cream without an ice cream maker… it’s super simple.
You take a banana (previously frozen in slices) and mix it with frozen fruit. Either buy them already frozen or freeze fruit yourself. For example in high season fruits are cheaper: you buy a little more than usual, wash them, cut them up into pieces, put them in a freezer bag and off to the freezer.
When you want ice cream vegan, you just have to take them out and mix them with the banana (or without your choice) and sugar (to taste). Sugar is not essential when you have good, sweet fruit.
There you have it, once mixed, you get a good homemade vegan ice cream that is healthy and creamy.
To obtain vegan frozen sticks or popsicles, mix a vegetable yogurt of your choice, fruit and a little sugar. Put in stick molds and place in the freezer.
You can replace the fruit with chocolate or coffee powder for even more indulgence.
